Maria Pedraza, Eva Green, and Samuel L. Jackson will star in the thriller “Just Play Dead” at the Cannes Film Festival.
We can tell that the thriller Just Play Dead will include Oscar-nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), Eva Green (Casino Royale), and Maria Pedraza (Money Heist).
Dan Gordon (Rambo: Last Blood) is the film’s writer, and Gary Fleder (Homefront) will direct.
According to the synopsis: “When the Federal Government corners wealthy criminal mastermind Jack Wolfe (Samuel L. Jackson), he intends to stage his own death in order to collect the $30 million life insurance payout with his “grieving” wife Nora (Eva Green), accusing her surfer lover Chad of killing him. However, Nora has her own plan in the works: actually kill Jack, frame Chad, and take the money for herself. One question remains when the lies are revealed and Nora and Jack try to outsmart each other: who will win this perverse game of life and death?
CAA Media Finance is in charge of domestic rights at the Cannes market, while Highland Film Group is co-financing the movie and managing foreign rights. In the Canary Islands, production is scheduled to start this autumn.
It is a true privilege to collaborate with such amazing talents as Eva Green and Samuel L. Jackson. According to Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser, Eva Green will give a riveting performance as the crafty and alluring wife of Samuel L. Jackson’s formidable kingpin in this engrossing thriller.
Delphine Perrier, COO of Highland Film Group, commented, “Dan Gordon has crafted a complex tale of lies, deceit, and betrayal, and Gary Fleder is the ideal director to bring this enticing and suspenseful project to life, which is already attracting buyers worldwide.”
Stories that transcend classification, exist in the liminal space between genres, and require viewers to be alert have always captivated me. I get to go back to that same lush, unpredictable region with Just Play Dead, which was written by the incredibly creative Dan Gordon and stars Samuel L. Jackson and Eva Green. Gary Fleder, the filmmaker, said, “This film is provocative, sexy, and original—a perfect mix of clever storytelling and thrilling twists.”
