Whether it’s grabbing a final ingredient or purchasing a quick gift, last-minute errands seem to appear on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

To allow employees to spend time with their loved ones over the Christmas season, many businesses and offices are closed on the two holidays. The dates of Christmas Eve and Christmas are Tuesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 25, respectively, this year.

Make sure to check the hours of locally owned establishments before leaving.

These are the things that will be open and closed on Christmas Day and Eve in 2024.

Grocery Stores:

Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Randalls, Shaw’s, Vons, and Tom Thumb are among the Albertsons Companies’ stores that will have shortened hours on Christmas Eve.

Jewel-Osco, Randalls, Shaw’s, and Tom Thumb are just a few of the pharmacies and banner stores that will be closed on Christmas Day. There will be some Vons, Safeway, ACME, and Albertsons stores open with modified hours. Before you visit on Christmas, the company advised you to check with your local store.

Kroger, another massive supermarket chain, will be closed on Christmas Day but will largely remain open on Christmas Eve. Ralphs, Dillons, Smith’s, King Soopers, Fry’s, QFC, City Market, Owen’s, Jay C, Pay Less, Baker’s, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Pick ‘n Save, Metro Market, Mariano’s, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, and Foods Co. are all owned by the corporation in addition to Kroger.

Retail Stores Timing:

On Christmas Eve, Walmart stores will close at 6 p.m. local time, and on Christmas Day, all shops will be closed. Target will be closed on Christmas Day, but it will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve.

Locations will typically close at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and stay closed on Christmas Day, but Home Depot advises checking with your local shop. Lowe’s will close on Christmas Day and reopen as usual on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Eve, the department store Macy’s will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, and on Christmas Day, it will close. On Christmas Eve, Kohl’s will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, and on Christmas, it will be closed. On Christmas Eve, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores will be open for business, albeit with restricted hours, and will close the next day.

Walmart: Hours vary by store but will be open on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.

Sam’s Club: Local clubs close at 6 p.m.

Costco: Most clubs are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Albertsons: Hours vary by location on Christmas Eve, while many stores are closed on Christmas day those open have seasonal hours.

Dollar General: Stores are open until 10 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve.

Trader Joe’s: All stores will close at 5 p.m.

Sprouts: Stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Whole Foods: Hours vary but most stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and closed on Christmas Day.

Target: Most stores will be open until 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Financial Centers:

The majority of teller services will be closed on Christmas Day because most banks observe the Federal Reserve banking holidays. ATMs and mobile banking services are available as usual.

Bank of America will be closed on Christmas Day. Wells Fargo will close at 12:00 local time on Christmas Eve, and on December 25, it will be closed all day. TD Bank will likewise be closed on Christmas.

Pharmacies:

On Christmas Eve and Christmas, CVS Pharmacy locations will remain open, however, their hours may be shortened. Before you visit, check with your local CVS store.

Postal Services:

On December 25, the United States Postal Service will not be shipping or sending mail.

FedEx Ground and Custom Critical will remain open as usual on Christmas Eve, while FedEx Express and FedEx Office will have adjusted hours. All FedEx services, except Custom Critical, will not be available on Christmas Day.

On Christmas Eve, UPS will still be in business as usual. On Christmas Day, only the UPS Express Critical service will be accessible, and there will be a limited number of UPS stores open.
