Nicolas Cage’s First Exclusive Photo as a Football Icon in Amazon MGM’s “Madden,” Christian Bale and John Madden play Raiders owner Al Davis.
The film, directed by David O. Russell, stars Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, Sienna Miller as Carol Davis, and John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts who created the classic video game Madden.
Russell is directing from a script he authored, which Cambron Clark had previously written. The movie chronicles Madden’s peculiar adventure. Madden, who has taught football strategy all his life, reached the highest point of his coaching career when his Raiders won the Super Bowl, but he had to quit because he was dying from his work. Even though he had never played a video game before, he discovered a new purpose with EA by contributing narration and helping to design the player’s moves onscreen, which improved the game’s comprehension. Thanks to that, there has never been a finer analyst, either before or since. It led him to work as a Madison Avenue pitchman and into the TV booth.
Producing alongside Jonathan Shukat, Russell, Matthew Budman, and Colin Wilson are Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch. David Bloomfield of Escape Artists and Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini of SMAC Entertainment will serve as executive producers. Skydance Sports is involved in the production of the movie.
