Arizonans are advised by Lynda Carter, the original Wonder Woman, not to vote for her sister.
The original Wonder Woman actress, Lynda Carter, declared to Mother Jones on Friday that she would not back her sister’s candidacy for a contested seat in the Arizona House.
Included in Mother Jones’ exposé on her sister Pamela Carter, a far-right Republican seeking to represent a portion of Maricopa County in the Arizona House of Representatives, was the actor’s comment.
According to Lynda Carter, Mother Jones was informed by Pam that she has her “family’s full support” on her website. “I regretfully cannot support Pam for this or any other public office, even though I have known her my entire life.”
Pamela Carter did not answer HuffPost’s request for comment right away. Her platform includes opposing transgender inclusion in sports, same-sex marriage, and abortion in almost all circumstances. She is in favor of arming educators.
A strong advocate for women’s rights, Lynda Carter also endorsed the Democrats challenging her sister in Arizona’s Legislative District 4.
She told Mother Jones, “As a native Arizonan, I am proud to support Kelli Butler and Karen Gresham to represent LD4 in Arizona’s State House.” “Arizona natives Karen and Kelli are both formidable, seasoned candidates. These women are employed mothers who are battling for the rights that Arizonans hold most dear, particularly the right of every child to a top-notch education.
Currently, the district is represented by one Democrat and one Republican.
The late Republican senator from Arizona, John McCain, was also commended by Lynda Carter for his dedication to “decency, justice, and freedom.”
