Lewis Hamilton Mercedes career finishes with a P4 finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,
After starting 16th in the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton made an incredible recovery to finish fourth in his Mercedes tenure.
The race ended the most successful driver-team collaboration in history. Since joining Mercedes 12 years ago, Hamilton has won 84 races and six world championships, including one with McLaren in 2008.
Even Michael Schumacher’s illustrious tenure at Ferrari from 1996 to 2006 was eclipsed by the relationship. On the last lap, Hamilton, reversing the years, passed teammate George Russell.
Following in Schumacher’s footsteps, the British driver will now try to end Ferrari’s drivers’ championship drought, which dates back to Kimi Raikkonen’s 2007 victory during Hamilton’s rookie season.
“That was the drive of a world champion,” Mercedes manager Toto Wolff told Hamilton over the team radio following the race.
By doing this, he will also avoid sharing the German driver’s record of seven world championships.
Early in 2025, Hamilton will make his first appearance with Ferrari.
If an early release was agreed upon, he might have been able to play for the team in the post-season test at the Yas Marina circuit next week, but he is still bound by his Mercedes contract until the end of the year.
Prior to seeing the team’s two Formula 1 factories in the UK, Brixwoth and Brackley, Hamilton will travel to Mercedes’ title sponsor, Petronas, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as well as Mercedes’ headquarters in Stuggart, Germany, next week.
According to Mercedes, Hamilton’s history with the team will be celebrated during the visits.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Italy has already been announced as Hamilton’s 2025 replacement; the teenage sensation will be paired with George Russell.
