Since the release of his breakthrough single “Not Like Us” in May, Kendrick Lamar has not released a new song. While the song is receiving positive reviews from many Hip-Hop enthusiasts, a friend of K. Dot’s rival rapper, Drake, has declared it to be hot basura.
One of the OVO members that Kendrick specifically called out in the aforementioned hit song, Baka Not Nice, expressed his dislike for the song on TikTok by commenting, from his verified account, “Sht sound like how them shoes look lil ni*a [wastebasket emoji],” a reference to the worn-out black Air Force Ones that Kendrick wore to go with the song. The fact that Travis Savoury, a rapper and former security guard, is not a fan of the record shouldn’t come as a surprise, as K. Dot called him out on “Not Like Us” for having “a weird case.” He also attacked musician PartyNextDoor for allegedly using cocaine and OVO Chubbs for supposedly sporting Drizzy’s hand-me-downs.
Lamar alludes to a 2014 event in which Savoury is accused of forcing a 22-year-old lady into prostitution, which is known as the “weird case.” He entered a guilty plea in 2015 to assaulting the woman and disobeying orders for separate firearm charges, according to The Toronto Sun at the time. Charges of prostitution and human trafficking against him were withdrawn because the woman declined to provide a statement.
According to the authorities, the problem started when the woman he was dating at the time came home and discovered him unconscious from alcohol while food was burning in the oven. He is said to have pushed her to the ground when she awoke him and cursed him for dozing off while the supper was cooking.
