Kia is recalling 80000 electric

Due to incorrect airbag deployment, Kia is Recalling 80000 electric and hybrid vehicles.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Saturday that Kia is recalling over 80,000 electric and hybrid cars in the US due to incorrect airbag and seat belt deployment.

The Kia Niro, Niro EV, and Niro plug-in hybrid models from 2023–2025 are the vehicles that are impacted.

The NHTSA states that damage to the floor wiring assembly under the front passenger seat may result in improper deployment of the front airbags and seat belts.

“Airbags and seat belts that deploy improperly or an airbag deploying unintentionally can increase the risk of injury in a crash,” it stated.

If owners need to take their cars to the nearest dealership, they will be informed in March. According to the NHTSA, dealers will examine, swap out, and reroute the floor wire assembly at no cost if needed.

Nearly 63,000 EV6 cars from 2022–2024 were recalled by Kia last year to address a defect that could result in drive power loss, raising the possibility of an accident.
