‘I thought I was done for’: Watch this humpback whale’ swallow’ kayaker’s footage.
In a stunning event seen on camera last weekend off the coast of southern Chile, a humpback whale seemed to “swallow” a kayaker and spit him out.
Off the coast of Punta Arenas, Adrian Simancas, a kayaker, was out on the ocean with his father when the whale surfaced and briefly held him in its mouth before letting him go.
Simancas stated, “I thought I was done for, that I was dead,” in a video was able to obtain. “It was like three strange seconds down there, and now, looking back, I reflect on what mistakes led me there.”
Simancas reportedly said, “I felt like I was being lifted, but it was clearly too strong to be a wave,” via Reuters. “As I turned, I sensed something white and blue moving near my face, as if above and on one side. His father was in another boat when the tragedy occurred, and Simancas was unharmed.
“As soon as I switched on the camera, I heard a loud wave break behind me. According to Reuters, his father, Dell Simancas, stated, “I turned, but I didn’t see anything.” Since I didn’t see Adrian for roughly three seconds, that was the only time I felt truly afraid. I spotted the fin of something when he abruptly took off without the pack raft and the pack raft reappeared a moment later.
