According to Park, one person is injured in Dollywood flash floods brought on by heavy rain.
In the US state of Tennessee, Dolly Parton’s amusement park, Dollywood, had a flash flood due to a powerful rainstorm.
Rapidly flowing water is seen rushing past attractions and filling souvenir stores in footage from inside the park.
People had to wade through waist-deep water in the parking lot to reach half drowned cars.
One individual with a minor injury has been reported, the park said in a statement, and visitors were “directed… to safety during the storm”.
The statement stated, “Dollywood is supporting guests whose vehicles were affected by this weather event, and clean-up crews have been deployed.” It also stated that the park’s Monday opening will depend on an assessment of the situation.
Some park visitors wrote on X, stating that they had never witnessed flooding that severe and that they were not given instructions on how to go to safety.
A user on X said that after a tree fell and obstructed the road, visitors had to disassemble a fence in order to remove their cars from the parking lot.
“I adore Dollywood even now. but we managed to get away today,” another user commented. “Hope everyone gets out alright.”
Along with thrilling rides, the well-known theme park offers food, music, arts & crafts, and food.
Parton, the famed country music artist who was born and raised in the region and named the park in 1986, also makes sporadic appearances.
This is the park’s second water-related issue this month; almost two weeks prior, a ruptured water main forced a day-long closure.
Early on Monday morning, Knoxville Police posted the following warning on its X account: “Weather is predicted to be heavy in our area for the next hour or longer.
“Be mindful of the possibility of flash flooding, drive carefully, and keep an eye out for standing water. And never forget to avoid driving on flooded roads at all times. Don’t drown; turn around now.”
